Angela looked from Derek to Jason.
Then to Ryan.
Then toward the far side of the room.
Her son Ethan stood there.
Sixteen years old.
Thin.
Tall.
Still growing into his body.
He looked horrified.
"Mom."
Angela glanced at him.
"What?"
"You promised."
"I promised I wasn't coming here to fight anybody."
Ryan chuckled.
"This sounds a lot like fighting somebody."
Angela shook her head.
"No."
She looked toward the man standing near the edge of the mat.
Michael Delaney.
Owner of Westbridge Martial Arts.
Forty-eight years old.
Former college wrestler.
Second-degree Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt.
Seventeen years running the dojo.
Michael hadn't laughed.
He had watched Angela carefully from the moment she entered the building.
