The Titan of the Streets
Chapter 1: The Summer Festival
The air was thick with the sweet, sugary scent of funnel cakes and the smoky aroma of grilled hot dogs. The annual Mid-City Summer Street Fair was in full swing, transforming the usually gray asphalt into a vibrant sea of color, music, and laughter. Flags fluttered in the warm breeze above rows of food trucks, and the chatter of hundreds of families filled the neighborhood.
Jamal, a twelve-year-old boy wearing an oversized yellow Lakers jersey, was having the best Saturday of his life. He had just won a small stuffed bear at a ring-toss game and was weaving through the dense crowd, trying to find his older sister near the lemonade stand. He was practically vibrating with the careless energy of youth, completely oblivious to the tension that was about to shatter the afternoon's peace.
He squeezed past a metal crowd-control barricade, his eyes scanning the colorful awnings of the vendors.
He never saw the man coming.
Chapter 2: The Ambush
Without warning, a large, heavy hand clamped down on the collar of Jamal's Lakers jersey. The force was brutal and sudden. Jamal choked as the fabric pulled tight against his throat, stumbling backward and crashing hard against the metal barricade.
Panic seized him. He looked up, his wide, terrified eyes meeting the face of a bald, fiercely aggressive man in a black tactical uniform. The letters 'ICE' were printed in bold white text across his heavy Kevlar vest.
